Model, not the invoice

What is added

Total ≈ water (slab × m³) + sewerage (often = water) + 15% VAT

  • Slabs are last-checked domestic rates. If your bill prints different Tk/m³, trust the bill.
  • Commercial and industrial connections are not this calculator.

The domestic slab table

Dhaka WASA domestic water slabs (last-checked)

Usage bandRate per m³
First 12 m³৳15.19
Next 8 m³ (13–20)৳19.63
Next 10 m³ (21–30)৳24.07
Next 10 m³ (31–40)৳28.51
Next 10 m³ (41–50)৳32.95
Above 50 m³৳37.39

Each band only charges its own rate on the metres that fall inside it — a higher band does not apply retroactively to the earlier metres.

A 20 m³ month, worked out

20 cubic metres with sewerage included

A household used 20 m³ this month, and sewerage applies at the same rate as water.

  1. First 12 m³: 12 × 15.19 = ৳182.28
  2. Next 8 m³: 8 × 19.63 = ৳157.04
  3. Water charge = 182.28 + 157.04 = ৳339.32
  4. Sewerage (equal to water here) = ৳339.32
  5. VAT 15% on (339.32 + 339.32) = ৳101.80

Total ≈ ৳780. Use the calculator above for any other usage figure.

Reading a WASA bill

  • The meter reads cubic metres, not litres. 1 m³ = 1,000 litres.
  • Sewerage on many Dhaka domestic connections tracks the water charge. Your bill says if you are exempt.
  • Electricity is a different utility: electricity calculator. Piped gas: gas bill.

FAQ

Is sewerage always equal to the water charge?

On many Dhaka connections sewerage tracks the water charge. Your bill says if you are exempt or on another schedule.

Can I pay WASA here?

No. Pay through the methods printed on the bill or dwasa.org.bd.

My bill is in litres. What do I type?

Divide litres by 1,000 to get m³, or read the m³ column on the bill.

Does VAT always apply?

The model adds 15% on water + sewerage. If your invoice shows a different tax treatment, follow the invoice.

Why does my per-m³ rate change partway through the bill?

The tariff is a rising slab: the first 12 m³ is cheapest, then each next band costs more per cubic metre. Only the metres inside a band are charged at that band’s rate.
