University admission guide
University admission in Bangladesh is not one system. Rules differ by institution, unit and academic year: some use a combined or cluster test, some run their own exam, and some professional programmes use a separate body. Eligibility, dates and fees belong in that year’s official circular. getBangla is an independent information site, not a university or an admission authority. Cut-offs and dates are not listed here.

Overview
After HSC, start with the circular for the institution or admission system you are applying to. Eligibility may depend on SSC GPA, HSC GPA, a combined figure, a subject grade, or another condition — there is no single formula. Cluster names and member lists can also change from year to year.
The checkpoints below show up in many applications. Some systems ask for subject or unit choices before the exam, some after the result, and some skip a step. Follow the order in that circular.

Common admission routes
Two kinds of arrangement — names and members change by year
| Cluster / combined admission | Single university / professional admission |
|---|---|
| One organiser may run one application and one exam; member institutions or units are chosen later | Each university or body may have its own application and exam |
| Some public universities sit together in a given year. The member list is in that circular | A university may test on its own. A professional programme, such as medical or engineering, may use a separate body |
| How a subject or unit is allotted — choice order, merit, or another rule — is in that circular | What happens after you pass is also in that exam’s circular. It is not the same everywhere |
GPA gates
Not every public university uses the same admission system. The same university can be in a cluster one year and run a separate test another year.
Eligibility is not always one combined number. A circular may ask for SSC GPA, HSC GPA, both added together, a minimum in each exam, or a grade in a subject such as mathematics or biology. The 4th subject is counted in some forms and left out in others. Match your board result on the GPA calculator, then enter figures exactly as the current form and circular ask.
Before you apply
- Gather the papers — SSC and HSC marksheets, the name as printed on the certificate, a photo and a signature. Use a mobile number you can keep reachable through the whole admission process.
- Open that year’s official circular — The application link is in the circular. Domains can change. Before you enter personal details or pay, confirm the site is the official domain of that university or admission authority.
- Check eligibility, then apply — Enter GPA and subject information exactly as the current form and circular define it. Do not assume whether the 4th subject is included.
- Pay the fee stated in the circular — The amount is not copied here. Pay only on the official site you have already checked.
- Download the admit card and read the exam instructions — Centre, time and admit card are published on that application site or in the circular. Dates are not written on this page.
- Submit subject or unit choices as that circular requires — When choices are taken, and how a seat is allotted, differs by system. Read your order again before you submit.
National University college admission is a separate process. Check the current official notice for that academic year; do not treat it as the same window as a cluster or a single-university test.
- Applying with a nickname or spelling that is not on the SSC/HSC certificate.
- Skipping a subject or group condition in the circular. A unit may require a subject such as higher mathematics — that is not a rule for every unit.
- Submitting subject or unit choices without checking them. Allotment rules differ; listed order is not used the same way in every system.
FAQ
How is admission GPA calculated?
There is no single formula. A circular may use SSC GPA, HSC GPA, the two added together, a minimum in each exam, with or without the 4th subject, or a grade in a particular subject. Enter what the form asks. You can check the board calculation on the GPA calculator.
When is this year’s cluster or Dhaka University exam?
The date is not on this page. A cluster test, the Dhaka University exam, or any other admission test is announced in that academic year’s official admission notice. Do not assume a date before the notice is published.
Can I apply to both a cluster test and a single-university test in the same year?
It depends on the eligibility and schedule of each admission system. One circular may allow a separate application; another may set a condition, or the exam days may clash. Check both current circulars. This page does not give a blanket yes or no.
Which documents might an application ask for?
Many forms ask for SSC and HSC marksheets, the name on the certificate, a photo and a signature. Some also ask for a birth certificate, a national ID, or other papers. The list changes by year and institution — use the documents section of that circular.
How do I submit subject or unit preferences?
When you submit choices, and how a place is allotted, differs by admission system. Some ask during the application; some ask after the result. Choice order is not applied the same way everywhere. Match the circular’s instructions and your own list before you submit.
